Steve Case, one of America’s best-known and most accomplished entrepreneurs and philanthropists, and a pioneer in making the Internet part of everyday life, will deliver the Tuesday, August 13 Keynote for SXSW V2V.

Recently called "one of the nation's greatest entrepreneurs" by CNBC, Steve Case is Chairman and CEO of Revolution, Co-Founder of America Online and Chairman of The Case Foundation.

Steve co-founded America Online (AOL) in 1985, when the Internet was in its infancy. Under Steve’s leadership, AOL became the world’s largest and most valuable Internet company, and helped drive the worldwide adoption of a medium that has transformed business and society. AOL’s early focus on ease of use and social media set the stage for its rapid growth, and at its peak nearly half of Internet users in the United States used AOL. In 1992, AOL became the first Internet company to go public, and was the best performing stock of the 1990s, with a 11,616% return. Steve then negotiated what remains the largest merger in business history, bringing together AOL and Time Warner in a transaction that gave AOL shareholders a majority stake in the combined company. To facilitate the merger, Steve agreed to step down as CEO when the merger closed.

Tips for SXSW PanelPicker Success: Video

The entry process for the 2014 SXSW PanelPicker begins Monday, July 1. Based on our numbers from last year, SXSW Interactive expects to receive more than 3000 speaking proposals before this entry process closes at the end of the day on Friday, July 26. So, how to make your idea stand out from the crowd? One important aspect of the PanelPicker process is the video component. In other words, be sure to include a compelling video of the presenter (or, the main speaker) as part of your PanelPicker application. Ideally this video explains the proposal in greater depth and lets viewers understand how great a public speaker you are. Remember that we value passion and energy at SXSW – so make sure these attributes shine through in the video that accompanies your application. For more info on this process, please refer to the PanelPicker FAQ.

Digital Reality: Life in Two Worlds - SXSW Interactive 2013

We have spent the last two decades capturing the real world, turning it into ones and zeros. Bits replacing atoms, where digital was cool and physical was the forgotten relative. This will reverse in the next decade – physical will become the new frontier, and digital will seem a little bit boring. Robots, sensors, 3D printers, UAV – information technology will evolve from providing access to supporting direct human interactions. In the words of Chris Anderson of Wired Magazine – Atoms will become the new bits.

Technology, Imagination & Exponential Thinking - SXSW Interactive 2013

Today we live in a world where the exponential progression of technology is increasingly shrinking the lag time between what we can imagine and what we can create. We are rapidly converging to become a civilization of networked minds who will transcend all previous limits. As Erik Davis wrote in Techgnosis, "When everything becomes linked with everything else, matter becomes mind"

With the coming overlapping revolutions in biotechnology, nanotechnology and artificial intelligence, the instruments to remake the world will be in everybody's hands.

Elon Musk Keynote - SXSW Interactive 2013

Lauded as the Henry Ford of this generation, Musk is the CEO and chief designer at SpaceX, where he overssees development of rockets and spacecraft for missions to Earth orbit and ultimately to other planets. In 2008, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft won the NASA contract to provide a commercial replacement for the cargo transport function of the Space Shuttle, which retired in 2011. SpaceX has gained worldwide attention for a series of historic milestones. It is the only private company ever to return a spacecraft from low-earth orbit, which it accomplished in December 2010.
