The first programming announcement for SXSWedu, March 3-6, 2014 in Austin, Texas was just released! The exciting array of conference and festival news included the initial lineup of community-fueled sessions and workshops, eduFILM screenings, LAUNCHedu Emcees, and the SXSWedu Playground. Get the inside scoop on all of the exciting news, now!

Over 700 SXSWedu PanelPicker proposals received more than 30,000 public votes and, with input from the SXSWedu Advisory Board, fueled the initial lineup of sessions and workshops accepted to present at SXSWedu 2014. These high-quality sessions shine a light on forward-thinking ideas and creative best practices which are a fine reflection of the passionate and energetic SXSWedu community. In addition to the first batch of accepted sessions, tons of exciting news for this year's SXSWedu festival events were announced:

  • eduFILM, a programming component of SXSWedu (distinct from the prestigious SXSW Film Festival), revealed the first three films that will screen at eduFILM during SXSWedu. The three films, American Promise, We the Parents and Once in a Lullaby: The PS22 Chorus Story offer SXSWedu attendees a cinematic look at prominent themes and topics in education today.
  • The SXSWedu Playground is an exciting evolution of the Makerspace, which debuted last year at the SXSWedu Conference & Festival. The Playground encompasses maker, STEM education, gaming, arts and more in an interactive space designed to celebrate and explore the creative side of learning.
  • LAUNCHedu has confirmed a dynamic emcee duo for 2014! Peter Nilsson, an English Teach and Assistant Dean of Faculty at Deerfield Academy will join forces with Heather Hiles, Pathbrite CEO, to guide SXSWedu's exciting education startup competition.
