SXSWfm Weekly Recap: Week of August 11

Written by Ali Killian | August 18, 2014
We are officially in the dog days of summer, and, at least in Texas, the days are hot. Thanks to beach trips, cooling off in the swimming pool and other miscellaneous summer activities, maybe you missed what happened last week on SXSWfm. Or, maybe you caught the shows and are just back for more. Either way, here's a recap of Americana World Headquarters, Tha Fixx Radio, Chronolog and Rory B. / Self Titled.

Americana World Headquarters

This week on Americana World Headquarters, host Kevin Connor plays a track from Remedy, Old Crow Medicine Show's new album, which hit No. 1 on the Americana Music Association chart. Also in the queue: Ian McLagan, a celebrated English artist who now calls Austin home, Booker T. & the M.G.s. and much more.

Tha Fixx Radio

B. Hobbs threw down a horde of fresh tracks this week on Tha Fixx. Hear new ones from Rick Ross, Juicy J, Wu-Tang Clan and more below. And keep it locked to hear which track B. Hobbs dubbed the "biggest track of the week."

Chronolog

Thursdays mean Chronolog, and Chronolog means whatever amusing antics Kevin Curtin and Chase Hoffberger decide to throw out there plus a lot of great music from Central Texas SXSW alumni. This week boasts the likes of Shakey Graves, Marmalakes, The Digital Wild and others, as well as details about those artists' forthcoming Austin gigs.

Rory B. / Self Titled

Rory follows up last week's epic journey through the world of post rock with a full hour of tunes that evoke that sweet, sweet summer feeling. This week's artists include more obscure SXSW alumni artists like Surf City and Pennywise. If you're spending any time outside in the summer heat this week, be sure to take this mix with you.
