Every year, SXSW Film conversations attract large, eager crowds, presenting the rare opportunity to witness some of the sharpest minds of the business engaging in stimulating, informative and productive dialogue. Drawing from an international pool of filmmakers, industry luminaries and other major players, the conversations comprise something of a masterclass in the art, business and pleasure of film.

A Conversation with Gilbert Shelton
Gilbert Shelton, Cartoonist

gilbertshelton Cult comics legend Gilbert Shelton created characters like Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, and has sold over 40 million comic books in 15 languages. He was art director of Austin's legendary psych venue Vulcan Gas Company, host to artists like Janis Joplin. He is currently involved in an animated feature adaptation of Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers. Moderated by Harry Knowles.

Gustavo Santaolalla, Composer

gustavo.jpg Academy Award-winning Argentine composer, solo artist and producer Gustavo Santaolalla has scored films as diverse as Babel, Brokeback Mountain and Amores Perros, and has produced acclaimed albums for the likes of Cafe Tacuba and The Kronos Quartet. Santaolalla's iconic band Bajofondo, meanwhile, draws from an eclectic sonic palette, gaining an army of fans worldwide. Moderated by BMI's Doreen Ringer Ross
