Having your Documentary, Narrative or Animated short film selected for SXSW is prestigious, but we're pleased to count ourselves among the festivals eligible for both BAFTA and Oscars Shorts qualification.

What does this mean for you, short filmmaker?

It means the winners of our Best Animated, Best Narrative and Best Documentary Short Film categories become eligible for both Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awards (Oscars) and British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards (BAFTAs).

In other words, getting your short film screened at SXSW is a step on the road to a coveted prize, and a place in cinema history.
