Future15 session at SXSW 2014. Photo by Rebecca Hedges-LyonPanelPicker 2015 opens on July 1, through July 25, and we're counting with some highlights from SXSW Film 2014 proposals. Today it's the turn of Future15, a new series we introduced this year.

Future15s are high energy, solo presentations that last, yes, fifteen minutes. These short sessions give an insider's look at future directions of the industry, in a rapid-fire format. One of the most successful proposals last year was Future15: Distribution.

Benjamin Crossley-Marra gave a particularly intriguing presentation entitled Small Time Theatrical Distribution. Here, Ben took a rather broad topic, such as distribution, and narrowed it to theatrical distribution, before narrowing it further to niche theatrical distribution. This concentration and focus makes a proposal like Ben’s not only very informative to a large portion of our audience, but also perfect for the Future 15 category. Have a listen to the entire Future 15 session below featuring not only Ben, but also Chris Horton (Sundance Institute), and Jillian Longnecker (Exclusive Media).

Remember, PanelPicker opens for public submissions on July 1st and will be open until July 25th. We look forward to receiving your submissions, and if you have any questions about the PanelPicker process feel free to e-mail us at filmpanels@sxsw.com.
