The WNBA’s Brittney Griner speaks at SXsports on Friday, March 7

The first-ever SXsports programming track just launches in a few days and we are excited to reveal a few incredible last-minute additions to what was already an all-star lineup.

Perhaps most notable of these additions is WNBA All-Star Brittney Griner of the Phoenix Mercury, who will join LZ Granderson and Sam Marchiano on the Friday, March 7 panel “Allyship: Becoming a Champion for Inclusion."

Other new sessions include “NHL Revealed: A Season Like No Other,” which features Adam Dettman from MillerCoors, Brian Jennings from the National Hockey League, the NHL’s “Ice Guru” Dan Craig, and President & CEO of the Chicago Blackhawks, John McDonough. This panel will discuss the NHL’s Stadium Series and, among other things, the pitfalls of trying to build an outdoor hockey rink in Los Angeles.

Also in the hockey mix at SXsports is “Disrupting the Hockey World” from Anson Carter, founder of Big Up Entertainment and hockey ananlyst on the MSG Network.

From the sports media realm, Yahoo! Sports editor-in-chief Charles Robinson and Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated will discuss the value of investigative reporting in sports in their dual session “Investigative Reporting in the Digital Age” on Friday, March 7.

Talking about his forays into the world of social media, UFC fighter Johny Hendricks will join Richard Ayres on the session “Social on the Field: Sports Stars & Social Goals.”

Unfortunately, cycling legend Greg LeMond had to withdraw from the event, so his previously-announced session, “The Power of Cycling,” will not happen in 2014. Also dropping out for 2014 is Brendon Ayanbadejo, who will not be speaking on the “Allyship: Becoming a Champion for Inclusion” panel.

Remember, all SXsports sessions are part of the new Convergence initiative, so these sessions are open to SXSW Interactive, Film, Gold and Platinum badgeholders. Register today to be part of this exciting track of 2014 programming!
