Dick's Presents Sports Matter: The Need to Save Youth Sports Core Conversation

Written by Corinna Burford | February 28, 2014

Sports Matter. But we don’t have to tell you that. You played sports as a kid – at school or in a vacant lot – and if you think back to some of the most pivotal or meaningful moments in your life, we wouldn't be surprised if a lot of them involved sports.

It’s hard to believe then that billions of dollars in funding cuts are reducing access to youth sports. In fact, researchers predict that 27% of U.S. public schools will not offer interscholastic sports by 2020. But what can we do?

Join Ryan Eckel, VP of Brand Marketing at DICK’S Sporting Goods, and Grant Garrison, Director of Strategy at Good/Corps as they draw upon their collective experience spanning national marketing, brand building, community organizing and social innovation to address the issue of funding in youth sports through the new Sports Matter initiative.

The “Sports Matter: The Need to Support Youth Sports” Core Conversation will be held on Saturday, March 8 at 11am at the Driskill Hotel, SXsports at SXSW 2014.
