Bill Gates to Keynote SXSWedu 2013

SXSWedu is thrilled to announce Bill Gates will deliver the closing keynote address at the SXSWedu Conference & Festival Thursday, March 7 in Austin, Texas. Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will address the foundation’s U.S. education work, which focuses primarily on ensuring all students are prepared for success in college and career.

As a reflection of the innovative SXSWedu community, the four-day event has expanded to include a number of exciting festival components for 2013 registrants. The returning social events will be joined by several new forums for networking as well as a makerspace and film screenings.

Selected from the fifty-four 2012 state and territorial teachers of the year, Rebecca Mieliwocki, a seventh grade English teacher from Luther Burbank Middle School in Burbank, California, was honored as the 2012 National Teacher of the Year by President Barack Obama on April 24, 2012. The Future Plans College & Career Fair

SXSWedu is pleased to announce we're reinventing the college fair with the debut of Future Plans, Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 2:00-8:00 pm.

Future Plans College & Career Fair will be a free and open to the public event for Central Texas high school students and their families.

More than 5,000 students and parents are anticipated to attend the event designed to empower them with practical information regarding their options beyond high school.

Future Plans will be held at the Austin Convention Center during SXSWedu with the help of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, the Austin Independent School District and other area school districts.

SXSWedu Distinguished SpeakersStudent and Author, Nikhil Goyal, announced as a SXSWedu 2013 Distinguished Speaker.

Yesterday SXSWedu announced the first round of accepted Concurrent Sessions and Distinguished Speakers selected to present March 4-7, 2013 in Austin, Texas.
